from a recipe by Kathy Fowler, modified by Nancy Fuchs

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2 cup powdered nonfat milk

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tbsp. brown sugar

1/4 tsp. garlic powder

6 tbsp. shortening (or meat/poultry drippings)

1 egg, beaten

1 small jar strained beef baby food

1/2 cup cold water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine dry ingredients, cut in shortening until well blended. Add egg and strained beef and enough water to form a ball. Make small balls and flatten for bite-sized treats or roll dough 1/2-inch thick and use cookie cutter for biscuits.

Bake treats on a non-stick cookie sheet for 25-30 minutes.
